Whereas the representation of women in
decision-making in Cambodia is low to non-existent (2 women ministers and 10
female MP out of 112 men), the SAM RAINSY PARTY
(SRP) believes in the important role of women in the building of free and
democratic Cambodia, and has always been supported and helped by women
activists. They even gathered together to create the Women Movement of the SRP.
The action
and achievements of the Cambodian Women Movement (CWM) is the best response
to the Cambodian deeply rooted gender discrimination.

The members of the CWM :
Defend
and improve Cambodian women's rights,
Promote
equality of rights between male and females,
Promote
women in politics and fight to obtain 30% of female members of
Parliament,
Train
Khmer women to fight for their rights and bring democracy and
development to Cambodia,
Fight
against human trafficking and violence against women through
international organizations' support,
Promote
children's rights to a proper education and protect them from
prostitution and illegal labor.
