SRP MPs CITIZEN'S RIGHTS VIOLATED
|
The Sam Rainsy Party denounces the illogical pretext used by the Military Court authority to deny the visit of two SRP MPs to the detained MP Cheam Channy. As usual, MP Sok Pheng and Yim Sovann asked Cheam Channy's lawyer Mr. Kaet Khy, to arrange for the visits to their jailed colleague that were allowed once every Saturday. Strangely, this time the lawyer's requests were rejected by the military prison's chief on the grounds that the visits are no more welcomed as there is a fear that Cheam Channy could be misled by the visitors as the trial date draw closer. This denial of access to MP Cheam Channy by his
colleagues absolutely has no legal basis. This shows that the authority
has once again violated the citizen's rights of the above-mentioned two
MPs, which casts doubt on the credibility of the forthcoming trial of MP
Cheam Channy. In addition, the SRP also questions whether this act of the
authorities has anything to do with any ill intentions against MP Cheam
Channy. SRP Members of Parliament
