Projects in need of fund raising

Irrigation works : The residents of Sre Samrong badly suffer cyclic droughts and floods. The absence of any kind of irrigation system unables the population to live on farming, despite a domain of 830 hectares of paddies. Without water, the commune has no chance to produce enough food for the 4 089 people (1 819 of which are children under 15 years old) that live within its 5 villages. Irrigation works would allow the both job employment of the population on a short term, and the hope top live on a year basis from farming.

During the dry season, most men leave their families for several months to go and find work outside the commune   Rice labor

Rain Water Ponds: Wells can't be dug because of the salt contained in the water (the commune is located on the southwest of the country). Therefore the population’s only hope is to collect and stock rain water during the rainy season.  2 ponds were dredged in 2002 and one more in 2003:

Feb-March 2003: The 3rd pond is 30 m X 40 m, 1.5 m deep. Over 60 people were hired for the works that lasted over a month. The pond is now ready to host the tropical rains of the rainy season to come.
